You might have noticed that AInspirations landed a little later than usual this week.

That’s because I’ve been reflecting deeply these past few days—wondering if what I’m creating for you is truly resonating. I started this newsletter with a simple goal: to make AI more accessible, and to spotlight the amazing AI tools, companies, people and stories emerging from Asia.

But more than that, I wanted a way to bring AI closer to your world. Make it less overwhelming amidst all the noise.

ChatGPT plans Singapore office: OpenAI is expanding globally with plans to open an office in Singapore this year, alongside new locations in Paris, Brussels, and New York. They've already started building a team in Singapore, and will be looking to hire across 5-10 roles by the end of the year.

Oracle invests in Malaysia: Oracle plans to invest over $6.5 billion to open a public cloud region in Malaysia, driven by rising demand for AI and cloud services. The government wants to enhance its AI capabilities and create 3,000 smart factories by 2030.

Philippines lags in Global AI Index: The Philippines debuted at 67th out of 83 countries in the 2024 Global AI Index by Tortoise Media, ranking the lowest in the region with a score of 5.89/100. The index ranks countries on AI capacity across implementation, innovation, and investment, using 122 indicators.
